Guest Blogging at NPR
Just got back from the studios of KUOW Seattle, where I did a segment for NPR’s Talk of the Nation with Neal Conan. The whole time I was there, I couldn’t shake the feeling that Kelsey Grammer was going to walk in, kick me out of my chair and say “Good day Seattle, and good mental health”. If you missed the show, you should be able to download it later today at NPR.org; while you’re there, check out my guest post at Blog of the Nation. Two people left comments on the piece pointing out that the Nile is not the only river that runs south-north, as I claimed during the show--I believe I said the Nile is one of the only rivers that runs south-north, but if I didn’t, thanks for the correction.
More soon.

Hi Willow—just heard your Talk of the Nation interview. Really really terrific! I’ve been to Cairo twice, trying my best to explore the seedy underbelly as much as possible. A few times I got myself in a little *too* deep. It’s awesome to hear the city I fell in love with now in print. As a comic fan, and fellow creator, I’m eager to pick up the book. I only wonder how different our experiences must have been though—the society being so divided—your Cairo may well be totally different than mine.
Great to hear your story—and best of luck with your work,
-Scott

You are as attractive in your pic as you sound on the radio!

I’m listening to it now. You first said “its one of the only rivers that runs south to north”, and then said “ or the only river that runs south to north.”
Terrific interview, very interesting.

hi willow,
great interview. just bought the book from Amazon. i’m a student of Arabic and planning to do a semester or two in the Mid East, possibly Cairo or Damascus. is there an Arabic version? also, was curious what you think of ‘the 99’ a fairly new comic series ala X-Men or the Justice League? hope you writemore graphic novels about the Mid East, there is definitely a lack of coverage in this area. Shokran Jazeelan, thank you!
